Ten months of lockdown, strict mask implementation, and social distancing may not be going away anytime soon due to a new strain of Corona Virus detected in various countries before the end of 2020. It was first detected in the United Kingdom last September of the previous year.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), this strain is 70% more contagious than COVID-19. Some studies show that children and adults aged 60 and above are more vulnerable to the new COVID strain. As more countries detect the new strain within their borders, medical experts continue to conduct intensive research to carefully study the new COVID variant. However, the news of another COVID strain heightened the possibility of another round of lockdowns.

The COVID-19 crisis afflicted the health, social and economic aspects of our lives, and learning of this new strain doubled the worries and panic experienced then. As per experts from the University of Liverpool, coronaviruses evolve and mutate all the time. Nonetheless, this does not cancel the fact that everyone should remain vigilant and aware of the current situation and follow safety protocols enforced by the government.

In spite of the pandemic anxiety, looking at the brighter side and trusting the effectiveness of the vaccines that underwent thorough studies and research to lessen the spread of the virus could alleviate the worry. On the other hand, taking personal steps to avoid the effects of COVID-19 and its new strain would surely get us through. Regardless of the arising troubles that our world is facing, EGP shall continue upholding our commitment to provide the best services to our clients and stakeholders.
